Kelley (she/her) is a microbiologist fascinated by the remarkable molecular diversity found in bacteria. Kelley earned her Ph.D. from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, after which she conducted postdoctoral research in the John Innes Centre in Norwich, United Kingdom, followed by the Université de Montréal in Canada. Outside of the lab she enjoys playing the flute, curling, spending time with friends and family, and exploring new cities whenever possible.

He enjoys exploring life through the lens of microbiology, understanding the complex workings of biological processes at their smallest scale. Joee (she/her) is a microbiologist with a keen interest in microbial ecology and evolution. She earned her B.S in Biology from the University of Southern California and continued her academic journey by attaining a M.S in Microbiology from California State University, Fresno. Beyond her scientific pursuits in the lab, Joee enjoys curating the perfect playlist, participating in movie night, and taking refreshing swims in the lakes and rivers surrounding Ithaca.

Talyia (she/her) is a Ph.D. student with a broad interest in biological engineering and its application in natural and agricultural settings. Talyia received her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Albany State University with a concentration in Biotechnology. Outside of the laboratory, Talyia enjoys knitting, watching international television/movies, and curating fashion pieces from various years and regions.
Fatemeh “Hana” Rahimi

Hana (she/her) is a PhD student in Microbiology. Born and raised in Iran, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology from Shiraz University, and continued her higher education at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, where she completed her master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences. She also has 5 years of experience working with diabetic patients as a nutritionist in Taleghani Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Center. Being fascinated by the world of bacteria and keen to explore their physiology, she joined the Department of Microbiology. When not in the lab, she enjoys hiking, working out, spending time with friends and family, knitting, watching movies, and reading books.
